OBITUARY.
LEMON.
Miss Laura A. Lemon was born at Canton, N. Y., Feb. 28, 1842, and passed away at the home of her brother, M. S. Lemon, near Cresco, Ia., Oct. 4, 1919, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 6 days. She was the youngest of eleven children, all of whom have passed away except the brother with whom she had made her home for a number of years.
She was left motherless when only nine months of age, and her father having died a few years later she then found a home with her sister Jane who loved and cared for her as though she had been her own child.
For many years Miss Lemon had been a member of the Universalist Church at Potsdam, N. Y., and in the faith of that church she passed into the Great Beyond.
The funeral service, conducted by G. M. Shoemaker, pastor of the M. E. Church at Lime Springs, Ia., was held at the home of Mr. M. S. Lemon on Monday, Oct. 6th, at 2:30 p. m. Mrs. M O. Swenson and Mrs. Philip Kratz sang, very sweetly, “Saved by Grace”, “Abide With Me” and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again”. The body was laid to rest in beautiful Oak Lawn Cemetery, Cresco, Ia.
The relatives who survive are her brother, Mr. M. S. Lemon, and the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Addie Blackburn, Royal, Nebr., Joseph Garland, Dubuque, Ia., Mrs. Julia Allen, Postville Ia., James Garland, Minneapolis, Mrs. Lita Small, Waterloo, Ia., Mrs. Lucy Diserens, Cedar Rapids, Ia., Leslie Lemon, Spirit Lake, Ia., Mrs. Elvira Kilmer, Gurnesey, Calif., Mrs. Melvina Jones, Redvers, Sask., Canada, Charles and Miss Cleora Lemon, of Cresco, Ia.
