BECKWITH IS RELEASED.
Ottumwa, Ia., March 30 - Mrs. Beckwith, mother of Warren Beckwith, the son-in-law of Robert T. Lincoln of Chicago, who is signed to pitch for the Ottumwa club in the Western association, called on Secretary Russell today and begged that the contract with her son be cancelled, agreeing to pay all expenses incurred. She stated that a position had been secured for Warren in the railroad offices at Creston, and his father-in-law, as well as her family, were much humiliated by his persistent efforts to play ball. She said Lincoln had agreed to help his son-in-law if he would agree to settle down. The release was granted.["The Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel", Thursday, March 31, 1898, pge 1]
