S. Rasmussen.
Last Thursday morning death came to Mr. S. Rasmussen at his home in Jewell. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at one o'clock from the home in the southwest part of town, conducted by Rev. Neilson, of Des Moines, of the Danish Lutheran church, and the remains were laid at rest in the cemetery here.
Mr. Rasmussen had been for several years a sufferer from a painful heart trouble. Two years ago he was taken to the state hospital at Iowa City where he was operated upon and temporary relief given. During the long period of his suffering from the pangs of an extremely painful malady be bore his sufferings cheerfully and resignedly, awaiting for the peace of death for relief. He was a man of fifty-one years of age, was born and married in Denmark, where he followed his father's trade of tanner. One child born in Denmark, died and was buried there. After coming to America the family resided for a time in the South, then moved to western Iowa, and about four years ago to Jewell. Two children, twins, have preceded their father to the Great Beyond since the family moved here, and these children are buried in the cemetery here. The wife and one daughter, Anna, still survive. Every one in Jewell and vicinity join in extending heartfelt sympathy to the wife and daughter in their bereavement.
