Infant Child Dies.
Saturday afternoon at three o'clock occurred the death of Benjamin, the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Clair, residing north of town. The child was sick less than twenty-four hours, becoming suddenly sick early Friday evening. Dr. Byron Lewis was called and later Dr. Wyatt, of Kamrar, was called in consultation, but in spite of their efforts death quickly came.
The child was born May 20, 1905, and at the time of its death was but one year and eleven months old. Death was caused by capillary bronchitis. At first the report was circulated that the sickness was a sudden attack of diphtheria, and for that reason funeral services were not conducted at the church. All arrangements had been made for services at the Congregational church, but were abandoned because of the report of diphtheria. The remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery in Jewell, Rev. G. O. Porter conducting the services at the cemetery.
The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of everyone in this community in their sudden bereavement.
