Nels V. Johnson.

Nels V. Johnson was born near Stavanger, Norway, in 1840. In 1861 she was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude Welland and lived near Stavanger until 1870, when with his family he came to America, locating in Iowa county, Iowa. Here they resided until 1880, when the family removed to Hamilton county where they have since resided.

Four and one-half years ago the deceased was stricken with paralysis and has been an invalid since that time. He died at the home of his son, Peter N. Johnson, March 25, 1907, at the age of 67 years. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and six children, one sister and two brothers. The children are Jonas Johnson, of Mitchell, S. D.; Mrs. Carrie Welland of Bricelyn, Minn.; John Johnson, Mrs. Belle Tow and Mrs. Julia Berge, of Slater; and Peter N. Johnson, of Jewell.

The funeral services were conducted yesterday forenoon at ten o'clock from the Peter N. Johnson home, and at eleven from the Lutheran church at Ellsworth, the pastor, Rev. C. H. Hjortholm, conducting the services. The body as laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery southeast of Ellsworth.
