MRS. DEDRICK MUNSON
Henrietta West Munson, daughter of Thomas and Martha West, was born near New Sharon, Iowa on February 11, 1876. She was baptized by Rev. Elstensen and confirmed by Rev. N. G. Peterson. She moved with her parents to Hamilton county, about ten miles northwest of Story City, where she grew up and spent her young life.
On June 15, 1910 she was united in marriage to Dedrick Munson; and to this union one son, Ernest, was born. They moved to Story City in the year 1925, and the following year the affiliated with the Bethel church. Mrs. Munson was an active member of the Ladies Aid and always a willing worker, whatever task was set before her.
On Tuesday, August 19th of this year, she submitted to a major operation at the Webster City hospital. Four days later, on August 23rd, she suffered a heart attack, and passed away suddenly at 12:30 p.m., at the age of 65 years, five months and 12 days.
Her husband, Dedrick Munson, preceded her in death on May 14, 1940, and also one step-son, Annas, who died in 1929. The four sons who mourn her passing are: Ernest of Long Beach, Calif., Arthur of Nevada, and Harold and Lyle of Story City. There are also four sisters and two brothers: Mrs. G. S. Olson of Jewell, Mrs. M. J. Teig of Stanhope, Mrs. S. B. Teig of Nerstrand, Minn., Elsie West of Story City, Henry West of Jewell. The two grandchildren are Marlene, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Munson, and Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Munson.
The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, August 26, at the home and from Bethel church. Rev. Hans Oppedal delivered the sermon. Burial was made at the Jewell cemetery. Pallbearers were Sam Jacobson, John Severaid, Albert Johnson, Emanuel Gabrelson, Erick Hove and H. L. Valen.
