OLD ELLSWORTH SETTLER DIED LAST FRIDAY
Funeral services were held Monday at the Ellsworth Lutheran church for Mrs. Malinda Thompson, 81, who died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sadie Twedt near Ellsworth. Rev. C. J. Naglestad officiated, and burial was made in Rose Grove cemetery.
Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage.
Mrs. Thompson was a daughter of Peter and Josephine Tuntland. She was born at Morris, Ill., Oct. 9, 1859. She lived near Morris until coming to Iowa, where she lived in Hardin county. Later she moved to Rose Grove township, Hamilton county.
She was married to Andrew Thompson at Mission, Ill. She was the mother of nine children, two of whom preceded her in death. She leaves the following children: Mrs. Chas. Kesler, Swea City; Mrs. Sadie Twedt, Ellsworth; Mrs. Herbert Spear, Atlantic; Porter, Ellsworth; Theodore, Gruver; Martin and Clarence, Williams.
There are also a sister, Mrs. Hannah Hoey of Rockford, Ill., and a brother, Bert Tuntland of Newark, Ill., as well as 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
