Obituary
Berge Oppedal
Berge Oppedal, son of Mons and Haldis Oppedal, was born Sept. 7, 1896, at Sogn, Norway, Europe. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith, received his christian education and was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Sogn. Mr. Oppedal grew to young manhood in Norway, emigrating to this country at the age of seventeen. Since this time he had been engaged in farming in this vicinity and the vicinity of Belmond and Alexander with the exception of two years that he served his country in the U. S. Army in home and overseas duty and six years that he did commercial fishing off the west coast.
Mr. Oppedal was united in marriage to Astrid Oppedal in May, 1937 and to this union one child was born.
He is preceded in death by his wife who passed away January 27, 1948 his parents and one brother. Mr. Oppedal leaves to mourn his death, one daughter, Helga, of this place, two sisters and one brother of Sogn, Norway, other relatives and a host of friends.
Burial services were in the St. Paul's church with the Rev. Carlson officiating and interment in the Lake Center Cemetery.
Three songs were rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Truman Quam. Pallbearers were Will Chalma, Andrew Miller, Hans Hendricksen, Fred Hendrickson, Arthur Lund and Harris Braland.
