MARGRETE ANN BRALAND

Margrete Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Braland, was born near Randall, Iowa, Oct. 12, 1929, and died at the Story City hospital, March 12, 1940, at the age of 10 years and 5 months.

Three weeks ago she was taken sick on her way home from the Randall school. The doctor was called and pronounced it a case of flu. But as her condition became worse she was taken to the hospital where her condition was known to be a case of brain fever (hjrnebetndelse) and other complications. Being a strong and robust child she fought the disease bravely for three weeks. She was suffering from a very high fever all the time wo it was a wonder that she could hold out as long as she did. The doctors and nurses did all in their power to reliever her suffering and, if possible, to check the disease. Her parents stood faithfully by her side almost night and day, ready to give her all the help they could, but all in vain.

Margrete was a very good child. She loved her parents, her little sister, Judith, and her Saviour. She was very interested in Mission work and expressed the desire to become a missionary when she reached womanhood. But her mission-career was cut short. God saw fit to take His little missionary home. Blessed be her memory.

Funeral services were held from the Mr. and Mrs. John Hall home, across the street from the church at two o'clock on Friday, March 15th. Many relative and friends attended the funeral.

Kathlene Hia and a group of Margrete's schoolmates furnished singing and Rev. G. O. Paulsrud conducted the funeral. Pallbearers were: Burdette and Rundell Brekken, Luverne Knutson, Robert Sopeland, Harold Thorsbakken and David Larson, all pupils of the Randall school. Interment was made at Mamrelund cemetery.

A sum of $12.25 was given to missions in her memory.
