Anne Christina Johnson was the daughter of Tollak and Helga Johnson. She was born near Jewell, January 26, 1890, and died in the tragic automobile-train accident a mile and a half east of Jewell at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon of last week, March 6, 1940, at the age of 50 years, 1 month and 10 days. All of her life she lived in the Jewell, Randall and Ellsworth communities where she had hosts of good friend whose most sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband and children and other relatives.

She married Rasmus O. Braland at Webster City, Iowa, at the English Lutheran church, December 10, 1911. Three children were born to this union, all of whom, with the husband, survive to mourn her loss. The children are: Angelyn, Harris, and Opal, all of whom live at home, Opal teaching now at College Springs, Iowa.

Other survivors include four brothers and five sisters: John Johnson of Austin, Minn., Henry Johnson of Randall, Lewis Johnson of Ellsworth, Clarence Johnson of Owatonna, Minn., Mrs. Alice Okland of Glenville, Minn., Mrs. Louise Thompson, Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. Tillie Challe of Jewell, Mrs. S. Erickson of Ames, and Mrs. Emma Anton, Ames; besides many other relatives. One sister, Mrs. Martha Benson, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Braland was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. M. N. Knutson of St. Paul's Lutheran church southwest of Jewell. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellsworth.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Trinity church in Ellsworth, the pastor, Rev. C. J. Naglestad, officiating. Burial was in the Mamrelund cemetery east of Randall. At the services singling was by a double mixed quartet from Ellsworth, and a solo by Miss Johnson of Randall. Those who served as pall bearers were: Clarence Sowers, Fred Ioerger, H. D. Foval, Oscar Thoreson, Theo. Lund and Hans Torkelson.
