Mr. Sevold was baptized, confirmed and wedded in the Elim church at Randall. He grew up on a farm 4 miles east of Randall. This farm later became his property. Here he farmed for a number of years. About 35 years ago he sold his farm and moved to Rolette, N. D., where he bought a larger farm.

On Sept. 23, 1891, he was united in marriage to Christine Skimland, who preceded him in death, March 29, 1930. The last ten years his health has failed hi and he was unable to do any farm work. During this period he has had his home with his children and other relatives. Mr. Sevold was a quiet and unassuming Christian man and loved by all and especially by his devoted children. While he lived at Randall, he was a faithful member of the Elim church and since he moved to Rolette he joined the Lutheran church there.

He leaves to mourn his passing four children: Emma Amdal, McCallsburg, Joseph of Rolette, N. D., Mrs. Lulu Berg of Chicago and Carrie Sabby, Rolette, N. D., also seven grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters: Martin Sevold, Balaton, Minn., H. O. Sevold, Story City, Mrs. J. M. Anderson, Estherville, Mrs. Olaus Rorem, Radcliffe and a host of other friends and relatives.

Mr. Sevold was buried Sunday, April 7, 1940. A short service was held at the H. O. Sevold home in Story City, where Rev. Paulsrud led in prayer and Harris Twedt sang, "Nearer My God to Thee." The service in Elim church, Randall, was conducted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud assisted by Rev. Bakke of McCallsburg. Chester Pearson and the Randall quartet furnished the music. Interment was made in Mamrelund cemetery. Pall bearers were: R. Thorsheim, Ed Sevold, Ole Sevold, Martin Sevold, Henry Tvedt and Sam Jacobson. $21.75 was given to missions in honor of his memory.

"That he has gone, dear Lord.
We can not yet believe or deem it's true.
Help us to feel although 'tis strange and new.
That memory is for us, and he, for you.
Come closer, God, we plead,
Thou who must see our need
Come closer still."
