Jewell:--A. Alexander, a cashier of the First National Bank, of Jewell, was stricken with apoplexy in the Hamilton County State Bank in this city at 12:30 o'clock Monday and expired at 2:30 without regaining consciousness. He came up from Jewell on the noon train in apparent health and called on his son, F. H., who is cashier in the Hamilton County State Bank. While talking he was suddenly stricken and Dr. Whitley was called and administered powerful restoratives, which seemed to revive his heart's action and he was removed to the home of his son on west Second street, but died shortly after reaching there. His wife was visiting here and was with him when he passed away.
Mr. Alexander was 61 years of age and was one of the most widely known and highly respected business men in the south part of the county.
The remains were taken to Jewell this morning and the funeral service held in the Congregational church there at 1:30 this afternoon. The A. O. U. W. lodge had charge of the service.
