OBITUARY

ELMER E. SWENSON

Elmer Emelius Swenson, son of Sven and Carrie Swenson (Bratteland), was born on his parent's homestead two and a half miles southwest of Randall, Iowa, March 9, 1888, and died on the same homestead June 12, 1938, at the age of 50 years and three months.

Elmer was of a quiet disposition, honest and faithful in his work and in his dealing with his fellowmen. He spent most of his life in the community, where he was engaged in farm work. He had been a member of Elim church, Randall, all his life. In this church, which was the church of his parents, sisters and brothers, he was baptized and confirmed. He belonged to the confirmation class of 1902.

Some time ago he met with an accident and since that time he had not been in very good health, and the last few weeks his health failed him very fast. During his illness he received good care by his brothers and sisters.

His parents, three brothers and one sister have preceded him in death. Those who live to mourn his passing are four brothers: Edward of Brainard, Minn., Hartvig of Huxley, Ben of Jewell and Jonas of Randall; also 4 sisters: Mrs. Martha Hendrickson of Frost, Minn., Mrs. Lena Christianson of Des Moines, and Mrs. Selma Walkenhauer and Mrs. Stella Risvold, both of Randall.

He was buried from Henderson's Funeral home, Story City, and from Elim church, Randall on June 15. Interment was made at the Randall cemetery. Rev. G. O. Paulsrud conducted the funeral. A quartet consisting of Mrs. P. G. Pederson, Mrs. Clarence Larson, J. H. Brekken and S. M. Teigland sang an appropriate song and Philip Paulsrud sang a solo. Pall bearers were S. S. Sydnes, Otis Weltha, Louis Johnson, Otis Braland, Sherman Sunnes and Martin Teig.
