OLE A. TJERNAGEL

Ole Andreas Tjernagel, son of Lars and Elizabeth Tjernagel, was born at Tjernagel, Norway, June 18, 1898, and died at the Story City hospital, April 19, 1938, at the age of 39 years and 11 months.

At the age of 3 years he came with his parents to America, in the fall of 1901. He spent his childhood and youth on his father's homestead, 2 1/2 miles southeast of Randall, Iowa.

Nov. 10, 1912, he was confirmed in Elim church by the present pastor, and Dec. 31, 1923, he was united in marriage to Gladys Johnson of Jewell. To this union were born two children, Richard, now 7 years, and William 4 years.

The deceased was engaged in carpenter work, most of the time. He was, what we may call, a handy-man. He could adjust himself to all kinds of work, and he gave full satisfaction to the people he worked for.

Some two weeks ago he was taken to the hospital to undergo an operation for an ulcer. All possible was done to save his life, but all in vain.

Besides his wife and the two children he also leaves to mourn his departure a father, six brothers, seven sisters and a great many other relatives and friends.

He was laid to rest at the Mamrelund cemetery, where his mother, who died Dec. 20, 1924, is resting. Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated at the funeral, which was conducted from the Henderson Funeral home, Story City, and the Elim church at Randall. At the church the Randall High school chorus sang, "Asleep in Jesus," and Mrs. Clarence Larson and O. A. Sopeland sang a duet. Pallbearers were Manly Hetland, Sam Stevenson, S. Hall, Henry Johnson, Pete Moe and Arnold Henderson. A substantial sum of money was given to the family and also to different missions in his memory.
