OBITUARY

ALBERTA MAE JOHNSON [SIC]

On the 17 of November, 1927, a darling little girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Nels Johnson. She was named Delberta Mae. Together with her older sister, and mother, little Delberta Mae was grafted into Christ Jesus thru the "washing of Regeneration" in Holy Baptism on the 9th day of December, 1927.

The first period of Delberta's life were happy years. The little bud unfolded most beautifully and gave promise of full an delightful blooming of maturity. But when about three years old, scarlet fever gripped little Delberta. She survived but probably never fully recovered her former vigor. The promising bud was drooping. Three years ago it was found necessary to remove her tonsils. An infection set in and she was taken to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment. She remained there about a year. Then on recommendation of the physician, she was taken to the Barnes hospital, St. Louis, Mo., to receive special medical attention of specialists. Here the affected part of one lung was removed. It was hoped that this would reliever her of her trouble. And it seemed to, for after a nine month's stay there, she was brought home on August 3rd, at last, apparently well. There was joy in the Nels Johnson family at the happy homecoming of Delberta. But three weeks later, the dreaded infantile paralysis seized her weakened body and left the frail structure partly paralyzed. Then about Christmas time, she contracted a cold. She seemed to recover, but a new cold developed which brought on pneumonia. This added a strain to great for the weakened heart. In the early hours of January 7, 1938, the soul of Delberta Mae Johnson took flight leaving its shattered earthly tabernacle resting in a quiet little room in the hospital at Webster City. The span of life of the departed measures 10 years, 1 month and 20 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing her parents, two sisters, Darlene and Mary Ann, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Johnson, beside a large circle of relatives and friends. Blessed be the memory of Delberta Mae Johnson.
