MRS. SWEN S. SWENSON

Mrs. Swen S. Swenson, nee Julia Odson, whose parents were Hadle and Tone Odson, was born at Norway, Ill., July 11th, 1877, and died at her home four miles west of Randall, Nov. 23rd, 1937, at the age of 60 years and 4 months. In the year 1885, then 8 years old, she came with her parents to Hamilton county. They settled on a farm 4 miles northeast of Randall. She was confirmed by Rev. O. Svingen in the Elim church at Randall on October 2, 1892.

In March, 1897, she was united in marriage to Swen S. Swenson. Ceremony was performed by Rev. Svingen and to this union 10 children were born, Hallie S. of Roland, Mrs. Sherman Larson, Story City, Josie, Sylvina, Rosie, Ina Sherman, Reuben, Benjamin and Dora all at home. Besides her husband and children she also leaves 5 grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters, Cornelius Odson, of Elmore, Minn., Edward Clark of South Dakota, LeRoy of Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Fred Monson of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. T. Wicks of Story City, Mrs. Austin Wicks of Clark, S. D. and Mrs. George Wicks of Elmore, Minn.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Swenson worked for a few years for Mrs. Swenson's uncle, Edwin Olson, 6 miles west of Randall. From this place they moved to the Evan Swenson farm, 5 miles northeast of Randall. In 1916 they bought a farm 4 mile west of Randall where the family has lived ever since and where they have built up a very nice farm home. Mrs. Swenson had a fine Christian background. Both her parents were devout Christians, who loved the Saviour and his work and no doubt this had a great bearing on her whole life. Father and mother's prayers mean much to the children. So although Mrs. Swenson was a busy mother, but she still had time to take care of her spiritual life. We who heard her speak to God were greatly blessed by her prayers and especially when she pleased with God for her dear ones, then she touched the near-most chords of the heart. Now her prayers have ceased for this life and we hope they have been fulfilled.

Mrs. Swanson had a warm heart for her church and mission. She cheerfully gave of her time and means for the up-building of God's Kingdom at home and abroad.

The funeral was conducted Friday, Nov. 26, 1937, from the home and the church at Randall, of which she had been a member for over 50 years. The church was filled to its capacity with relatives and sympathetic friends. Rev. G. O. Paulsrud used for his text, "She is not dead, but she is sleeping," Luke, 8:52.

Members of the board of directors of the Randall Bank served as pall bearers. They were: John Larson, S. M. Teigland, Hans Miller, J. H. Brekken, Chas. Hove and P. J. Okland.

The male quartette J. H. Brekken, Ole Sopeland, S. M. Teigland and Theo. Hoversten, sang two songs. Phillip Paulsrud also sang a solo.

Interment was made at Mt. Olive cemetery.
