OBITUARY

PAUL JACOBSON

Funeral services were conducted for Paul Jacobson at the Story City Sunset Home Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. E. R. Rorem officiating. Special music at this service consisted of the singing of "Den Store Hvide Flok" by Mrs. Peterson, nurse at the home, accompanied by Mrs. Arvie Jacobson. Services were conducted at 2 o'clock in the Immanuel church, Pastor A. O. Skibsrud officiating. Special music was furnished by Orville Olson, nephew of the deceased. He sang "Softly and Tenderly" and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River," accompanied by Louise Olson at the organ.

Burial was in the family lot in the St. Paul's cemetery. The pall bearers were Otis Frette, Oreas Boe, Oscar Sunnoe, Omer Olson, Ole Jacobson and Harry Jacobson.

Paul Severin Jacobson was born Oct. 4, 1874 in Kendall county, Ill. to parents Ole and Kari Jacobson. A year later he moved with his parents to Hamilton county, Iowa, where they settled on a farm. Here he grew to manhood, receiving his public school instruction in the local schools. Throughout his life he was engaged in farming. About eleven years ago he moved from the farm to Story City. Here he came to make his home with Lars Stenson. The past four years he was a resident of the Story City Sunset Home.

He was baptized as an infant into the Christian faith in the Lutheran church in Illinois. With his parents, he was a charter member of St. Paul's church of the Stanhope parish in that church he was confirmed under Pastor Baard Mikkelson and continued as a faithful member until he moved to Story City. Here he was a faithful member of Immanuel church to the time of his passing.

Death came Sunday, Oct. 14, at Story City Sunset Home. Mr. Jacobson had been in failing health for the past four years.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Bertina Frette and Mrs. Nellie Boe, both of Story City, and Mrs. D. S. Beckley, Nevada, and by three brothers, Henry and Carl Jacobson, and John Sunnoe, all of Story City, as well as many nephews and nieces.
