MRS. INGEBORG MILLANG
Mrs. Ingeborg Millang, whose parents were Nels and Martha Nelson, was born at Vik, Sogn, Norway, October 14, 1849, and died at her home in Story City June 21, 1937, at the age of 87 years and 8 months.
July 4, 1876, she came to America and settled in Lee county, Ill. The same year, Dec. 7, she was united in marriage to Hermund Millang, also from Vik, Sogn, who preceded her in death May 22, 1936.
After two years stay in Illinois the Millang family moved to Iowa, where they were engaged in farming, two years near Stanhope and four years southwest of Randall. In 1883 they bought a farm four miles east of Randall, where they lived until 1923, when they moved to Story City.
Mrs. Millang became the mother of nine children, of whom one, Mrs. Betsy Peterson, has preceded her in death. Those who survive are: Ole, Forest City; Nels, Roland; John, Jewell; Mrs. Bertha Oppedal, Mrs. Inger Egemo, Mrs. Hannah Carpenter, Peder and Imbert, all of Story City. She also leaves 24 grandchildren.
For 40 years Mrs. Millang was a faithful member of the Elim church at Randall, and since she came to Story City, she had shown the same faithfulness to Bethel church of which she was a member. She was one of the oldest ladies aid societies in this part of the country, namely, the Bethany Aid society, five miles southeast of Randall. A good Christian wife and mother has gone to her reward. God bless her memory.
Six of her grandchildren acted as pallbearers. $48.00 was given to different institutions in her memory. She was buried from the Bethel church, Story City, June 24. Interment was made at Mamrelund cemetery.
