MRS. OLINE OPPEDAL
Mrs. Oline Oppedal was born at Tradal, Norway on October 1, 1866, and passed away July 11, 1936, at her home near Stanhope. She had reached the age of 69 years, 9 months and 10 days.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway. She came to America in 1902 and since then has spent her life in this community.
On August 1, 1902 she was united in marriage to Mons H. Oppedal in the Lake Center church. To this union 5 children were born, Astrid and Ludvig at home; Hans of Webster City, Tillie (Mrs. Ingolf Brekke) of Stanhope and Marie of Des Moines. Besides her children two grandchildren survived. Her husband preceded her in death of October 29, 1926.
In 1932 she suffered a stroke and since that time has been failing in health, and for the past year was bedfast.
Funeral services were held Monday 1:30 at the home and at 2 o'clock in the St. Paul's Lutheran church conducted by Rev. Hans Oppedal. At the home Clifton Madson of Stanhope sand a Norwegian song, "Den Store Hvide Flok" and at the church he sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus' Name." The pallbearers were Albert, Iver B. and Iver E. Iverson, Sam Oppedal, Ole Brekke and John Satre. A sum of money was given to the mission in her memory and floral offerings were many and beautiful. Interment was made at the Lake Center cemetery.
