From Story City Herald June 25, 1936 (page 5)

Mrs. Obie Hauge, whose parents are Jacob and Annie Jacobson, was born at Randall, Iowa, May 11, 1909, and died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, June 3, 1936, at the age of 27 years.

She was baptized in Elim Lutheran church by its present pastor, July 4, 1909, sponsors being Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. John Helgeson and Julia Rando. In this church she was confirmed the 29th day of September, 1923. Her classmates were Jeffrey Carpenter, Waldo Egland, Marion Handeland, Amil Frette, Miles Johnson, Floyd Iverson, Reuben Lovig, Lloyd Okland, Kenneth Skeie, Marion Skogerboe, Arnold Tweed, Sherman Thompson, Gladys Nordskog, Beatrice Olson, Adeline Paulsrud, Fern Pederson, Catherine Peterson, Sarah Sowers and Sylvia Skogerboe.

In the spring of 1926 she graduated from the Randall High school. August 10, 1929, she was united in marriage to Obie Hauge of Randall. The witnesses were Stanton Jacobson and Erma Hauge. To this union were born two children; one died in infancy, the other child, born May 9, 1936, survives her.

She leaves to mourn her early departure her husband and infant child, her parents, one sister and two brothers, besides many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Hauge was a grandchild of the old pioneer family, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Larson. She was blessed with a fine disposition and a pleasant appearance; she was loved dearly by her husband, parents, family and all who came in touch with her. It was therefore a great shock to the community when she was taken away in the very bloom of her life. We would have enjoyed very much to have had her with us for many years to come, but so was not the plan God had laid out for her; however, we thank God for the many pleasant years we spent with her and our hope is that our loss is her gain. The struggle as far as she in concerned is over, she has exchanged the cross for a crown.

She was an active worker in the church. For many years she was a member of the choir, in which she took great interest; she was an active member of the ladies aid. In both these organizations she will be missed very much. We will let the first two verses of hymn No. 583 bespeak her faith her Savior;

"My life is hid in Jesus,
And death is gain to me;
Then whensoe'er he pleases,
I will meet it willingly.
For Christ, my Lord and brother,
I leave this world so dim,
And gladly seek that other,
Where I shall be with Him."

Short funeral services were held at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, June 7, at the home, and at 2 o'clock at the Elim Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. G. O. Paulsrud. At the home the infant son was baptized and named Carroll Obie. The sponsors were Mr. and Mrs. Selmer Hia, Erma Hauge and Stanton Jacobson. Mrs. Ben Anderson and Theo. Quam sang, "My Eye is on the Sparrow," a song that Clara liked so well. Before the service at the church Mrs. Anderson and Mr. Quam sang "Beautiful City of Gold." At the close of the service Truman Quam sang "The Old Rugged Cross." The church was filled beyond capacity with relatives and friends of this beloved young wife.

The last few days of her life she found great comfort in the 4th Psalm. For that reason the pastor took the Psalm as his text. He remarked, "As God spoke to her in this Psalm, so today she speaks to us thru the same Psalm. There are three great things she wants us to notice: how she found peace with God, the result of this peace, and then a warning to us. Sin not.

She was laid to rest at the Mount Olive cemetery. The pall bearers were Lloyd Okland, Jordan Johnson, Arnold Twedt, Harvey Miller, Jeffrey Carpenter and Lawrence Miller. The flowers were many and beautiful. In her memory $43.25 was given to missions and parochial school by her relatives and friends.
