From Story City Herald July 23, 1936 (page 2)

MRS. SAM KRISTENSEN

Mrs. Sam Kristensen (nee Christina Reinertsen) was born at Gilje, Bremness, Finaas parish, Norway, August 31, 1860, and died at her home in Story City July 13, 1936. She was nearly 76 years old.

In Finaas parish she was baptized and confirmed and here she grew up to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Sam Kristensen in the same parish on Palm Sunday, 1888.

She became the mother of five children. One died in infancy; Henry died in 1935 at the age of 43; Mrs. Peter Olson died in 1936 at the age of 47 years. Those who survive her are Mrs. Ella Routh of Jewell, Mrs. Helen Kaske of Chicago, Ill., and a daughter-in-la, Mrs. Henry Kristensen of Washington Island, Wis. She also leaves 16 grandchildren. Her husband died in 1930.

With her husband she came to America in 1889. They worked for Edwin Olson, west of Randall, for some time. Later on they bought a farm near Goldfield, where they lived until 1900, when they purchased a farm three miles west of Randall. The last twenty years the family has lived in Story City.

Mrs. Kristensen was a hard-working mother. Quietly and patiently she went about her daily task. She minded her own affairs and let others alone. She never spoke unkindly of anybody. While living west of Randall the family belonged to the Elim church at Randall, since coming to Story City they have belonged to the Bethel Lutheran church. Mrs. Kristensen loved God's church and the missions the church and was supporting and often gave money toward this cause. But best of all was that she loved her Lord and Savior, and clung to him to the last.

She was buried from her home and Bethel church July 16, and laid to rest at the Randall cemetery. Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiated at her funeral, and Mrs. and Miss Heggen sang two appropriate duets. Pall bearers were Henry and Ole Sevold, S. M. Teigland, P. L. Okland, J. T. Heggen and E. C. Jacobson.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: To my knowledge, none of the children of Sorn "Sam" Krestensen and Kristina Reinertsen used the last name, Krestensen or Kristensen. They used Christensen or Christianson so I have also indexed this obituary under those spellings.
