OBITUARY
BERTHA OLINA BRALAND
Bertha Olina Braland, daughter of Andreas and Mattie Braland, was born December 9th, 1885 in Scott Township, Hamilton County. She was baptized in the St. Petri Lutheran Church and confirmed in the North St. Petri Church.
She cared for her father and mother in their declining years, and later moved to Webster City. Miss Braland cam back to Story City in 1941 when she again joined the St. Petri Church. In September of 1961 she entered the Old Peoples Home here, and April 14 of last year she was admitted to the Story City Hospital and died February 9th after a lingering illness.
Survivors include three brothers Oscar of Ellsworth, Alfred of Jefferson, and Amos of Radcliffe; two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Osmundson of Story City, and Mrs. Clara Ryan of Radcliffe, also several nieces and nephews. Two nieces, Florence Ahrens and Shirley Sutton, made their home with her for some years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters. Pall bearers included Marvin Ahrens, Richard Ryan, Dale Cannon, Allen Osmundson, William Braland, Richard Parriott.
Funeral services were held at St. Petri Lutheran church Tuesday, February 12. The Rev. Geo. C. Strum officiating. Mrs. Robert Hermanson, soloist was accompanied by Mrs. Joel Jacobson at the organ. Burial was at Mamrelund Cemetery, north of Story City.
