OBITUARY OF JOHN ALBERT JACOBSON
John Albert Jacobson was born on the original Jacobson farmstead in Marion township, southeast of Stanhope, May 23, 1869. His entire life was spent on this farm. Shortly before his death he was taken to the county hospital at Webster City for medical treatment and h died there Sept. 10, 1935, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 18 days. He was the only son of Peter and Anna Jacobson, pioneer settlers of Iowa and Hamilton county. His father died in 1871 and his mother in 1899.
On Feb. 20, 1907 he was united in marriage to Miss Kathryn Evans in her home at Stratford. She is left to mourn his death, as well as one sister, Mrs. Jennie Peterson of Stanhope, other relatives and a host of lifelong friends.
About four years ago the deceased was taken sick, and since that time his health has gradually failed despite medical attention. Altho he at times suffered a great deal during his years of illness, he did not complain, but bore his lot with patience. Always genial and well met and kindly, he made a great many friends all of whom will mourn him deeply.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, Sept. 13. At 2:00 o'clock service was held in Methodist church at Stanhope, Rev. Paul Johnson of the Stratford Methodist church being in charge. A mixed quartet and the following songs at the services: "The City Four Square," "The Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Have Thine Own Way." There were many flowers attesting to the large number of friends the deceased had.
Following the services the remains were taken to Lawn Hill cemetery for interment. The pallbearers were F. I. Erickson, Rudy Andrews, Glenn Carlson, Embert Peterson, Carl Anderson, Norman Erickson.
