Mrs. Gunhilda Berven Died in Ames
Mrs. Gunhilda L. Berven, 82, who has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. A. V. Carey, in Ames, for the past year and a half, died at 3 a.m. Friday. Death was attributed to old age. Mrs. Berven had been an invalid for many years.
Mrs. Berven was born in Hardanger, Norway, March 6, 1853. After her marriage to Lars L. Berven the couple settled in Wisconsin. They moved to Iowa in 1884, to a farm near Kamrar. Mr. Berven died in 1893, leaving seven small children.
Mrs. Berven is survived by three sons, Iver, Nels and Severt, all farmers in Hamilton county; three daughters, Mrs. Carey of Ames, Mrs. J. O. Iverson of Lake Wilson, Minn., and Mrs. E. D. Peterson of Jewell; one sister, Mrs. Geo. S. Tokheim of Story City, and two other sisters and a brother in Norway. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
