The angels took Robert "Bob" Marsh home on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 21, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Granger. Cremation will follow services.

Bob was born on June 17, 1923, to Bill and Lydia (Brown) Marsh in Arcadia, KS. He came with his family to Grimes in 1938. Bob was very active in baseball and basketball and graduated from Granger High School in 1943. He was a farm hand for Brenton Brothers until June, 1944 when he married his sweetheart, Rose Tayler from Waukee. Bob worked for the Wolf Brothers until he started farming on his own. He was a very hard working man still living on the same farm until his passing.

Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling. He and Rose had been snowbirds for the last 40 years.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose, his children, Lydia (Gene) Vossen of Sioux Falls, SD, Frank (Elaine) Marsh of Grimes, Melvin (Jodi) Marsh and JoAnn (Rodney) Whitmire, both of Dallas Center; four granddaughters, Danelle (Tom) Sulentic, Heather (Jason) Odeggarrd, Jennifer Marsh (Cory), Janette (Troy) Sanders; four step grandchildren, Michael (Tara) Whitmire, Paul (Danielle) Whitmire, Abby (James) Meister and Andrew (Angela) Whitmire; six great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Austin, Makenna, Ava, Tristan and Shani Rose; and three step great-grandchildren, Madison, Max and Aiden.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston. On-line condolences may be made at IlesCares.com. ~ The Des Moines Register 20 Nov 2011.
