Selma Olivia Carlson, oldest daughter of Mrs. C. A. Carlson, was born in Ida County 18 April 1887. She died at home 6 May 1933 after an illness of about six weeks at the age of forty six years and eighteen days. The illness was not deemed serious until Wednesday when she became worse and shortly after went into a stupor in which she remained until she passed away.
She was the fifth member of the family to pass away. Two boys and one girl died in infancy. One brother, Roy, passed away 1 October 1928 and her father, C. A. Carlson, 22 April 1930.
Selma lived with her parents on the farm southwest of Arthur where she was born and spent all of her life. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in 1913, and was baptized in September 1915. She became a member of the Arthur Free Mission church and was a faithful and loved member there until her death. She was a quiet, kind and friendly person, respected and loved by all. She was an active worker in various organizations of the church. She was a dearly beloved daughter and sister, and will be greatly missed in the family circle. She was a most devoted companion to her sister Ellen.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her mother, four brothers, Albert, Oscar, Emil and Reuben, and one sister, Ellen, all of Ida county.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the home and at 2 o’clock from the Arthur Free mission church, conducted by Rev. H. A. Faugerstrom of Kiron.
Interment was made in the family lot in the Hayes township cemetery.
