Russell Theodore Carlson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Carlson was born on 19 August 1907 on a farm in Hayes township, Ida County, Iowa. He died at his home 28 January 1947 at the age of 39 years, 5 months and 8 days.
Russell received his schooling at district No. 2 and 5 in Hayes township and No. 8 in Blaine. He attended the Arthur Free church and Sunday school.
Most of his life was spent on the farm excepting two years in Minnesota and several months in California.
He has been employed as a farm hand in the community and ambition has characterized his work. He was esteemed highly by relatives and friends for the honest, sincere and congenial way in which he conducted himself and undertook his tasks. His friendly smile will be missed in the home and with those whom he mingled.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Carlson; one brother, Guy; two sisters; Mae, Mrs. Albert Wunschel, Gladys, Mrs. Rolla Thrailkill, xxx three nephews, xxx Omaha, other xxx of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday p.m. 31 January 1947 at the Arthur Evangelical Free church, Rev. John Hedlund, officiating. Two songs, "Does Jesus Care?" and "Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me" were sung by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. John Hedlund, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Linman and Henry Tunberg. Richard Tunberg sang "Trust in the Lord." Mrs. Herbert Tunberg was the accompanist.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Sacquety, Erick Johnson, Elmer Eng, Howard Rohlf, Ray Schwink and Burdette Clouse.
Interment was made in the Arthur cemetery.
