Hi,
I am new to this site, but just came across an obituary of Charles Bates (1882), who died at the Centennial House. Your relatives are mentioned in the article. I'll try to link to it below, but may not be able to.

I thought they might be my relatives (also John Foley who was in Clinton County in 1880, but who was married to Nora Whalen Foley), so I was glad to come across your post clarifying for me.
