Martin F Jacobsen (Jacobson) was born on 25 May 1898 in South Dakota. He died in Oct 1972 in Grand Mound, Clinton Co., IA. He was buried in Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IA. We have hardly no info on his parents. Martin's father died when he was about 14. His mother's name was Emma and she remarried to a man with the last name of Shumacher.

Martin married Emma Brockmiller daughter of Frederich Brockmiller and Dorotha Bartels on 21 Feb 1920 in Ames, Story County, Iowa. Emma was born on 23 Jan 1903 in DeWitt, Clinton Co., IA. She died on 16 Apr 1979 in Bluff Terrace Care Center, Clinton, IA. She was buried in Clinton Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IA.

The 1930 census lists Martin as possibly Marcus - the ink is kind of blotted. He is 31 years old, married at age 21, born in South Dakota, mother and father are listed as born in Iowa. He is a general farmer. Wife, Emma I, age 27, married at age 17, born in Iowa, parents born in Germany. Children listed are Ella M, 8, Ida B, 6, Glen M, 4 11/12, Ema L, 2 11/12 and Dolores M, 2/12. Living in DeWitt Township on Springbrook Rd next to Fred Brockmiller and daughters Marie 17 & Ella 15.

The 1940 census lists Martin as being 42 years old, born in SD, living at 2020 5th St N, (it also says he was living at this same address in 1935.) working as a truck driver for a trucking company making $1500 a year. His name is spelled Jacobson in the census.

They had 9 children. I am just starting to help my daughter research this family for her husband. Any information would be exiting for her to hear about.
