My McDonnell line was going from NY or NJ to Clinton Iowa in the late 1850s and John and brother Patrick broke off and headed to MS. I have proven information on both of these men.

However I have discovered Jane McDonnell d 1866, Michael McDonnell d 1877 and Ellen McDonnell d 1888 all in the same cemetery, Holy Cross in Clinton. I am almost certain that Jane is the mother of my John. I am hopeful the 1860 census will shed more light.

Could this be connected to your line? I know nothing about the members of the family who went on to Iowa.
