I am looking for information about John and Bridget BURNS (John's given name O'BYRNE, Wicklow Co., Ireland b. 9/24/1826). They came with their family to the city of Davenport, Scott Co. in the 1850's from New York. They are located in the 1860 federal census in Davenport. At that time, they had children Thomas, Patrick, Mary Jane, and James. John was a boot and shoemaker. John, we are told, died 9/24/1869 in a wrestling accident. Sometime in the 1860's, Bridget moved the family (now also with children John, Elizabeth, and William) to DeWitt, Clinton Co. where the older boys took up farming. I suspect that John began the process of naturalization while in Scott Co. His final naturalization papers (I'm told) were dated 9/18/1868. Sometime in the 1870's, the family moved to West Side Township in Crawford Co. John's son, James Timothy married Maria HOGAN of DeWitt. I am particularly interested in locating John's parents names or the parish in Ireland he came from. They were Catholic. If anyone can give me information on locating an obituary or the naturalization records (declaration of intention, petition, etc) or where they might have gone to church, I would be very appreciative.
