Hello Martin,
Three years ago (Feb/Mar 2006) I had a local researcher in Jarmen, Germany search the church records for the Mohr family.
I have a copy of the birth record for your great-grandfather, William C. Mohr; and the marriage record for William and Caroline Wenzel. Here's the info:Johann Wilhelm Christian, born on 11 Feb. 1832 at 8:00 a.m. in Medow, bapt. on 19 Feb. (parish Medow 8/1832)
Johann Wilhelm Christian Moehr from Muessentin, age 27 2/3, married on 8 Oct. 1859, Caroline Marie Johanne Henriette Wentzel, age 22, daughter of the deceased daylaborer Carl Wentzel from Muessentin. (29/1859, p. 137)I also have the pedigree info going back to the great-grandparents of your great-grandfather. I have located six of the eight of them. They were all born in the mid-18th century:
Otto Mohr (born abt 1740)
+ ?
David Michel Freyschmidt (born abt 1740)
+ ?
Carl Christian Schepler (born abt 1750)
+ Marie Elisabeth Böckler (born abt 1753)
Joachim Christoph Michel Michaelsen (born abt 1753)
+ Maria Dorothea Möller (born 22 Nov 1754)So far I have over 500 descendants of Otto Mohr. Most are descendants of Christian and Friederike (Schepler) Möhr's family that settled in Clinton County, Iowa in 1857 and 1860. William and Carl's brother John may have came to America in 1856. I would like to share info. You can find more at my website:
