Funeral services for Mrs. Ben Frese Sr., 84, were held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Schultz funeral Home in Monona at 2 o'clock. The Rev. E. Wayne Hilmer officiated. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Mrs. Frese died at the Community Hospital in Postville, Friday, Nov. 06.

As Harriet Elizabeth she was born the daughter of Joshua and Emeline Spear Boone at Boonesville, Iowa, Dec. 25, 1874.

She was educated in the Iowa School for the Deaf at Council Bluffs and at Gallauset College, Washington, D.C.

She was married to Benjamin H. Frese on Oct. 16, 1907. In 1919 she moved from Guttenberg with her family to Monona, which has been her home since that time.

Before her marriage she painted and sold many pictures, but since that time had painted just for pleasure. She was known for her quilting, crocheting, and sewing with which she delighted her family and friends.

Mrs. Frese was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two children, Robert and Helen; four sisters and five brothers.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Ben of Monona and Edward of Postville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several distant relatives and many friends.

Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Thomas James, soloist. Accompanist was Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz.

Pallbearers were Verle Abbott, Will McAllister, Ted Freze, Hubert Lenth, Carrol Robinson, Martin Frese, Everette Drahn, and Durwood Schutta.
