Miss Dorothy Marie Bissell became the bride of John Lowell, Jan. 01, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guttenberg. The Rev. Father Gruenwald officiated. Miss Bissell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bissell, Elkader, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lowell of Guttenberg. Miss Hulda Bissell, Elkader, sister of the bride was maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Irene Wesemann, Guttenberg, and Mrs. Lloyd Bente, Elkader, cousin and sister of the bride. Carol Bente, served as flower girl, and Keith POlkow was ringbearer. Wayne Lowell served his brother as best man, and the other attendants were Robert Lowell and Royce Bissell, brothers of the bridal couple. Mrs. Anna Homann, maternal grandmother of the bride, was present for the ceremony.
Mrs. Lowell is a graduate of the Elkader public school and attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette. For the past three years she has been teaching in the rural schools of Clayton county. Her husband graduated from St. Mary's high school, Guttenberg, and has since been employed by the Iowa Ford Corporation at Guttenberg. He left today (Thursday) for Des Moines for his physical examination.
