Elmer Ruben Bryant, 74, died Thursday, September 6 at El Dorado Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Services were held Wednesday, September 12 from the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola with the Rev. Clifford Halder of Osceola officiating at the 1:30 p.m. rites. Masonic services were conducted by the Osceola Masonic Lodge 77 A.F. & A.M.
Elmer Ruben Bryant was born January 23, 1910 in New Virginia, Iowa, son of Fred O. Bryant and Frances Elizabeth Brewer Bryant. He attended schools in New Virginia and later attended pharmacy school. On April 6, 1940 he was married to Verna Davis in Des Moines.
He first served as a pharmacist in Osceola and then served in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Following his service in the Army, he worked as a pharmacist with the Civil Service.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church at Tucson, a member of the Elks Lodge in Tucson as well as a member of the Tucson Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Verna of Tucson; twin brother, Delmer Bryant of Osceola; brother Cleo Bryant of Kansas City, Kansas; sister, Thelma Foreman of Tucson and a host of nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Note: Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola, Clarke County, Iowa
