Clarence Wilbur Wolfe, son of Leonard A. and Elizabeth Snyder Wolfe, was born August 16, 1895 near Center Point in Linn County, Iowa, and departed this life August 17, 1974 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at the age of 79 years. He was ill for several months.

When a small boy, he moved with his family to Clarke County where he lived the remainder of his life.

At the age of nine, he accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptised. He kept his faith all his life and at the time of his death was a member of the Murray Church of Christ where he was an ordained elder. He served as an elder and also taught the Berean Sunday School Class for a number of years.

On December 27, 1916, he was married to Eva Pearl Moore at Leon, Iowa. To this union four children were born. She preceded him in death on August 23, 1966.

On May 15, 1967, he was married to Faye Lee Brooks at Murray, Iowa.

He enjoyed a lifetime occupation of farming. He liked working with livestock as well as planting and harvesting the crops. He retired several years ago but continued to live and work on the farm.

He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Faye; daughters, Marie Craig and husband, John of Davis City; Mabel Sloan and husband, Richard of Osceola; sons, Leo Wolfe and wife, Virginia of Murray; and Donald Wolfe and wife, Verda of Osceola; also his step-children Mildred Pacey and husband, Lyle of Antioch, Illinois; Robert Brooks and wife, Joan of Denver, Colorado; Donald Brooks and wife, Darlen of Gray's Lake, Illinois; also 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 15 setp-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister Katie Gaumer and husband Chester of Murray, and brother, Lawrence Wolfe and wife, Florence of Downers Grove, Illinois, five sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and other relatives as well as many friends.

Besides his first wife, Eva, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Raymond, George, and Jacob; a daughter-in-law, Oralene Wolfe; and a great granddaughter.

He wanted to share these words of wisdom on taking time to live:

TIME TO LIVE

We urge ourselves on to goals that too often become ashes in our hands. To get the most out of life we must take time to live.

Time to read good books; time to hobnob with thinkers, poets, explorers, adventurers, seers and prophets.

Time to play with children and to discover again the fountain of youth.

Time for nature; time for flowers, trees, birds, and sunsets.

Time to love and be loved, for love is the greatest thing in the world.

Time for service; time to be a good neighbor, and to help make our community a better place in which to live.

Time for worship, for the spiritual stimulus of being in tune with the Infinite.

Yes, let us take time to live. Let us pray as Matthew Arnold, "Calm, calm me more nor let me die, before I have begun to live." - Jaqua Way

Services were held Monday, August 19, 1974, at the Church of Christ, Murray, Iowa, with Rev. Walter Williams and Rev. John Swedburg officiating. Music was furnished by Gaylord Dick and Elaine Francis with Mrs. Harold Hindes orgainist. Burial was in the Murray Cemetery.
