William Edward Fitts, 77, died Saturday in Cherokee after a two-month illness. After having farmed in Afton Township, he had lived in Cherokee since 1928.

He was born in Cherokee County on Feb. 17, 1892.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Georgia Ferriera of Newark, N.J.; a son, William E. Fitts, Fine, Ky.; and three grandchildren. A brother, Glenn A. Parker of Cherokee and a sister, Mrs. Emil Bublitz of Clear Lake, S.D., also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.

Funeral services are to be Tuesday at Boothby Funeral Home. Burial will be in Afton Cemetery. (Source: Cherokee Daily Times, Cherokee, IA, Mon. Dec 2, 1968, pg. 8)

Coordinators Note: His parents were Wlm Edward Fitts and Ida Hill. Ed, age 33, married 17-year-old Florence Hill on April 14, 1924, in Primghar, O’Brien County, Iowa. They were later divorced. Ed died of pneumonia at the Sioux Valley Hospital.
