Mrs. Vern (Ruby) Lane, 85, of 208 W. Elm St. died Friday afternoon in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital, Cherokee, after a one week illness. Mrs. Lane was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County.

Ruby Sanborn was born April 18, 1893 in Cherokee County. She married Albert Vern Lane on Aug. 8, 1938, at Storm Lake. Before her retirement, she was employed by McWilliams Drug Store for many years. Mrs. Lane was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sisters, Mrs. Oscar (Carrie) Lewis, Storm Lake; Mrs. Glen (Leta) Blizzard, Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Stivers, Cherokee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 21, 1977, one brother and one sister.

Services were to be today at the Boothby Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. (Cherokee Daily Times, Sat., April 7, 1979, pg. 2)
