Dr. M. D. Hayden, 65
M.D. Hayden, M.D., 65, 1125 W. Willow St., died Sunday in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. The Rev. J. Donald Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. A family prayer service will be 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 29, 1912, at Humboldt. He married Frances Harman on Dec. 16, 1944. He graduated from the University of Iowa Medical School in 1946.
Hayden served in the United States Navy until 1949 when he opened a general practice in Marcus. He moved his practice to Cherokee in 1961. He retired in 1981.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church; Speculative Lodge No. 307 A.F. & A.M., and Carnation Chapter No. 165, Order of Eastern Star. He was a member of the Abu-Bekr Shrine Temple, Sioux City, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was also a member of the Academy of Family Practice.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. George (Connie) Cundy, of Minneapolis, Mrs. Dennis (Patricia) Harrison, Cherokee, and Mrs. Terry (Linda) Burkhart, Cherokee; one son, Michael Hayden, North Liberty; nine grandchildren, and two sisters, Joyce Hayden, Algona, and Mrs. Weldon (Mary Jean) Bolie, Ruthven.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 16, 1982.
