Phyllis Margaret “Sally” Weathers, 70, of Aurelia, Iowa passed away Friday, July 17, 1998, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under direction of the Wharton-Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia.
Mrs. Weathers was born December 11, 1927, in Salix, Iowa to Jens and Eleanor Sophia (Hansen) Christensen. On February 19, 1947, she married Richard Weathers at Ponca, Nebraska. She was a homemaker and had worked for two years for Wincharger in Sioux City, Iowa and later for Honsbruch Drug in Aurelia. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of Carnation Chapter #165, O.E.S. of Cherokee, was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting, camping and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; a daughter, Nancy Lynn Countryman, Moville, Iowa; three sons: Joseph Weathers and his wife, Diane, Moville; Dennis Weathers and his wife, Connie, Salix; and Jim Weathers and his wife, Paula, Aurelia; nine grandchildren: Kelly and Kim Countryman; Chris and Jodi Countryman; Katie Countryman; Ryan, Jason, Andrew, Nathan Tieg and Bill Weathers; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
