Funeral services for Jon David Elder, 39, Tipton were held June 8, 1989 at the Jones Funeral Home, Washington with the Rev. Robert Lehman officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Heart association.

Mr. Elder died at Muscatine General hospital June 5 following a sudden illness.

The son of Harold and Kathryn Zehr Pratt Elder, he was born June 12, 1949 in Iowa City. He married Ellen Camic June 10, 1972 in Belford, N.J. He was a welder for the North Star Steel Co. in Wilton. He was a member of the Methodist church and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam war.

Mr. Elder is survived by his wife, Ellen; 3 sons, Jon, Matthew and Shawn, all at home; his parents, Kathryn Pratt, Ottumwa and Harold Elder, Los Animas, Colo.; 4 brothers, Harold, Chicago, Ill.; Steve, Lone Tree; Ted Pratt, Chicago, Ill.; and Scott Pratt, Des Moines and a sister, Cindy VanAntwerp, Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Pratt.
