Funeral services for Jason M. Smart, 13, Des Moines, were held June 13, 1989 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with the Rev. Gary Ruckman, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden, officiating. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery. He was the great-grandson of Erhard and Alberta Kroemer, Lowden and Ferman and Edna Allman, Clarence.

Jason Smart was killed in an auto accident in Maine June 7.

The son of Donald Smart, Sr. and Tracy Smart, he was born Dec. 2, 1975 in Cedar Rapids. He had resided in Des Moines, but was living with his father in Connecticut at the time of his death. He was a 7th grade student.

Jason Smart is survived by his father in North Branford, Conn.; his mother in Des Moines; a sister, Jaimie Smart, Des Moines; a half-sister, Kristi Smart, Boston, Mass.; his grandmother, Audrey Huber, Cedar Rapids and Grace Smart, Newport, Maine; a grandfather, Edward Allman, Cedar Rapids and his great-grandparents in Lowden and Clarence. He was preceded in death by a stepbrother.
