Last rites for Russell E. Beck, 78, were held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home Dec. 4 with Dr. Jerrold Swinton officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were Everette and LeRoy Sander, August and Donald Hoffner, Ron Schlueter and Norman Davis.

Mr. Beck died at the Crestview Care Center, West Branch, Dec. 1.

The son of Guy and Mary Vintingle Beck, he was born near Tipton July 15, 1908. He was educated in the rural Cedar county schools. He was married to Gertrude L. Davis at Cedar Rapids Jan. 7, 1935.

A retired farmer, he was a lifelong resident of the Tipton area. He had been a resident at Crestview since 1982.

Mr. Beck is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. Jessie Slach, West Branch and Mrs. Edith Arenson, Madison, Wis. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 brothers and a sister.
