Funeral services for Charles Herman Roberts, 65, former Tipton resident, were held at Cedar Rapids Dec. 6 with the Rev. John Woods officiating. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Roberts died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Dec. 2.

He was born in Lovilia Dec. 9, 1920 and spent most of his life in Tipton. He was a contractor, was employed by the City of Tipton as street superintendent and then worked for Cedar-Johnson Farm Service until he retired and moved to Cedar Rapids. He was married to Mary Schupanitz in Cedar Rapids Aug. 1, 1981.

Mr. Roberts was a member of the Tipton fire department for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the army air force from Nov. 30, 1945 to Aug. 2, 1946.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sue Kinney, DeWitt; 2 sons, Jake, Oskaloosa and Tim, Garner; a sister, Grace Woodruff, Newton; 5 stepsons, Paul Schupanitz, Minneapolis, Minn.; Joseph Schupanitz, Cedar Rapids and Peter, Matthew and Luke Schupanitz, all of Littleton, Colo.; 6 grandchildren, and 5 stepgrandchildren.
