Funeral services for Mrs Joe Kahl, 70, who died Thursday morning in her home here, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church following a prayer service in the home. The Rev. Fred J. Abele officiated.

Pallbearers were Fred Conrad, Henry Boettger, Walter Greve, Reinhold Breuer, Sylvan Derynck, and Carl Esbaum. Mrs Frank Knoche of Big Rock, Ina Kahl, Josephine Mente and Luetta Licht, granddaughters of the deceased, were in charge of the flowers. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery.

Wilhelmina Hasenbank was born Sept. 29, 1873, in Othesdors, Germany, and came to this country when she was 16 years old. She married Joe Kahl of Clarence on Jan. 18, 1893. After living a year in Clarence, they moved to a farm four miles southwest of Lowden where they lived until moving to Lowden in 1917.

Mrs Kahl was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed church and also an active member of the Ladies' Aid.

She is survived by one son, William, on the home farm; four daughters, Mrs Henry Mente of Tipton, Mrs Emil Licht of near Lowden, Mrs Veno Rix of Lowden and Mrs Wilbert Mente of near Wheatland; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one sister, Mrs Gus Benthin of Clarence. Her husband and a son preceded her in death.
