Funeral services for Bernice Sagert, 72, West Branch, were held June 27 at the Bethany Lutheran church in West Branch, with burial in the West Branch cemetery.

Mrs. Sagert died June 25 at University hospitals in Iowa City.

The daughter of Severin and Christina Jacobsen Pedersen, she was born Nov. 29, 1913 in West Branch. She graduated from West Branch high school and Dana College in Blair, Neb. She married Carl Sagert June 23, 1946 in West Branch.

Mrs. Sagert taught elementary school in Denver, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and West Branch. She retired from the West Branch school system in 1977. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran church, Martha Circle, American Legion Auxiliary, in which she was a past president, and the National Education Association.

She is survived by her husband; 2 sisters, Mrs. Donald (Fern) Thompson and Mrs. John (Pauline) Kofron, both of West Branch and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother.
