My GGGGrandfathers name was Hemming Jensen, who came from an area in Denmark by the name of Sajalland. He came to the United States in 1889 or 1890, with his sons Jens, Nels and daughter Anna. They came to Newell, Iowa in Buena Vista County. There they stayed with his two son, and my GGGrandfather Jorgen Peder Hemmingsen and his wife Maren. Jorgen and his family along with Hemming Jensen, moved to Danevang, Texas because of Marens health. Hemming Jensen took sick in Texas and died there around 1896 and is buried in that area along with two infants of the family. The Hemming Jensen in my family had 5 children that I know of.
They are:Hans Peter Ferdinand Hemmingsen - who lived and died in Buena Vista County Iowa and was a stone mason.
Jorgen Peder Hemmingsen (aka J.P.) - who moved from Iowa to Texas, then back to Iowa before moving to Mccanna, North Dakota in Grand Forks County were he lived and farmed until his death in 1955. He had 4 children: Holger Hemmingsen, Frode Hemmingsen, Valdemar Hemmingsen, and one daughter Dagmar Hemmingsen who married into the Kolding family.
Jens Hemmingsen - who I have no information about.
Nels Hemmingsen - who lived and owned a retail store in Larimore, North Dakota in Grand Forks County until his death in the late 60's.
Anna Hemmingsen - who I have no information about.
I have been trying to track down anybody who may be a direct link to my family. I have seen alot of Hemming Jensen's but have no idea who he was married to or if this is a very common name in Denmark. I would love to hear from anybody who may have any information in regards to this family.
