Rosemary (Archer) Freed was born on January 17, 1936, in Waterloo, Iowa. She entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, in Newton, Iowa, at the age of 88.

She was adopted as an infant and raised by Nellie Archer. Rosemary graduated from East High School (Waterloo) and was united in marriage to Leonard Arthur Freed on June 14, 1958, at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Waterloo, Iowa. She and Leonard were married for 38 years, prior to his death.
They raised their four children in rural Jesup, Iowa. She found great joy in cooking and raising her children. Rosemary equally enjoyed the arrival of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the years. She had a specific interest and passion in supporting the work of the Gideon’s International Organization which provides Bibles internationally, free of charge. Rosemary enjoyed her daily devotions and in recent years she regularly watched services by Dr. David Jeremiah.

Rosemary is survived by her daughters Lori (Mark) Roget of Fredrick, Colorado; Lisa (Sam) Zug of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Linda (Ron) Surls of Xenia, Ohio, and her son, Larry Freed of Newton, Iowa.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her adoptive mother Nellie Archer; husband Leonard Arthur Freed, brother Gene Archer, sister Minerva Vroegh and granddaughter Renee Roget.

Rosemary’s family requests that any memorial contributions made in her memory be contributed to the Gideon’s International Organization at www.Gideons.Org.

Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:6,7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in all things, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. – Friday, August 30, 2024, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, Iowa, with burial at the Littleton Cemetery.
