Sharon K. Naylor, 83 years old, of St. Peters, MO, and formerly of Independence, IA, died Monday, August 26, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles, MO.

Sharon K. Deke was born July 24, 1941, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Bernard “Ben” Werner Deke and Hattie Orissa (Norton) Deke. She graduated from Independence High School with the class of 1959, and married Donald L. Naylor. They were married in 1959 and later divorced in 1986.

Sharon worked as the Dietary Manager at People’s Memorial Hospital in Independence and was active in the community. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and in her later years she enjoyed volunteering at the Independence Senior Center. She enjoyed playing cards with her card group and bowling with her bowling league team. Sharon’s family was important, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence.

Sharon is survived by her children, Mark (Kathy) Naylor of St. Peters, MO, Lisa Naylor of Allen, TX, Kelly Naylor of Petersburg, AK; four grandchildren, Tom (Jackie), Dylan, Stephanie (Bobby), Andrea; and one great granddaughter, Emma.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Donald Naylor Jr. in infancy and Scott Naylor in 2019; one granddaughter, Ashley Naylor; and her six brothers and sisters, Eleanor Bender, Dorothy Wilkinson, Marilyn Hamilton, Betty Ann Deke(infant), Bernard C. Deke, and Terry W. Deke.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. – Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence, with burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Independence, and for an hour before services, Friday, at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church and the National Kidney Foundation.
