My name is Heather Groscost Lay. My birth father, William Groscost, died January 23, 2010 of cancer in the Iowa State Penitentuary. He spent 29 years there for the murders of Robert and Helen Bargenquast.

I have not known the names of the victims until now, through inquiries of my own. I wish to somehow offer my sincerest, deepest, and most humble apologies for the grief of your family.

I have fears of opening this door. I'm sure your family members were notified of Bill's death by the institution, but this will hopefully reach you should the family have not been previously informed.
